Fireflies That Dances Around The Dragon -andrea

"I went for a BBQ last night with the NP archers, and sad to say, the girls didn't turn up. Most of the guys did though. SL and his family were generous to let us have a BBQ at their place far from the actual hustle and bustle of the cityscape....behold, BBQ at Dragon Kiln at Jurong West.Yes, we had BBQ at one of the very very few Dragon Kilns in Singapore, and it so happens that SL's family owned one. Of course we didn't cook our food in their Kiln, we had BBQ pits dragged out to the open grounds where the boys proceeded to incinerate the satay and otah. Literally. It was all fun really, interacting, joking, dai dee and buggy driving was the game play of the night. Of course, being the only lady ( besides George's little daughters) present, I was served food with gusto. Hahahahaha....I missed the boys' rambunctious behavior, and I would have enjoyed myself more if the girls turned up.There was so much food, GZ was practically in 7th Heaven, inhaling everything on sight. But well, I think without him, there would have lots of leftovers for Benjamin to take home. George and Elsie were there, but I think I did the most babysitting for George. Why oh why do the little girls have to cling to me?SL led us to a really dark and abandoned place where a beautiful sight captured our eyes. Fireflies flitted through the few trees, glowing a greenish yellow in the dark, some of them even resting in the tall bushes and lalangs about. Never had I imagine that i would see fireflies in Singapore. As we bask in wonder and awe at the tiny pretty lights of the fireflies, I marveled at the simple beauty those fireflies brought to us.The haze was not bad in the extreme west area, the skies were quite clear despite the proclaimed PSI 116, but I think we were contributing to the haze with our BBQ. Scarfing down more otah that I wanted to, my stomach miraculously didn't protest at the amount of BBQ rubbish one expects to eat. Guess I was starved for rubbish.I wanted to ask George for a ride back to JP, but looking at the boys piling into that white van and squished like sardines, I'd rather not, and opted to stay a little while more. Turned out that I had to wait till 12am for Elsie and her daughter to finish up cooking a bit more with Benji, HL and SL. But as kind Elsie she is, she sent me straight to my home, and I waved them bye as the little yellow kangaroo sped off to send Benji home. Walking towards the lift, a thought rolled through my sleepy smoky brain. The same thought that plagues me now and then.In a few months, I would be leaving this unhealthy country and the friends I've come to know, my 'comrades' in NP Archery, my best buddies and the food. But on the bright side, I would be broadening my view some place else, make more friends, learn new stuff, be independent, and perhaps, make my mark on Aussie's Archery scene. Hah.Whatever. I'm looking forward to my change of city and studies. Till then, I toast my impending journey with a cup of chinese tea and a slice of mooncake. Kampai."--- this entry was taken from andrea because i was lazy to blog on it. And she had a better way of putting her words. impressive..
